Aboriginal Child and Family Life Centres

Aboriginal Child and Family Centres provide interactive activities, cultural teachings, Aboriginal language learning, early learning and literacy, information, referrals and skill-building opportunities for parents and caregivers  of young children aged 0 to 6 years old. Programming is based on Aboriginal cultures and approaches to engage and enrich the lives of Aboriginal children and families in Toronto.

Scarborough Child and Family Life Centre

The Scarborough Aboriginal Child and Family Life Center is a community hub that offers a variety of community-based programs.

Some highlights from the Scarborough Aboriginal Child and Family Centre include:

This program focuses on skill-development through teaching participants how to use various art media such as photography, leather work, jewellery making and painting. This has sparked an interest in entrepreneurship for some of our youth who have chosen to sell their art from the workshops. This work has been purchased by Lakeridge Health Centre and has been displayed in the main foyer of the Scarborough Civic Centre.

The EarlyON Centre at the Scarborough Aboriginal Child and Family Life Centre opened in January 2019. The Centre operates 6 days. For more information about the EarlyON Centre, click here.

This program supports 30 children in after-school care and provides homework assistance. This program also operates a March Break Camp.

Every week, over 40 community members attend the Centre for dinner, cultural crafts and teachings.
