Summer Camp Programs

At Native Child and Family Services of Toronto, Summer Camp programs give Aboriginal children, families, and youth the opportunity to learn about their culture and have a positive sense of personal identity and belonging.

The camps provide a safe environment with trained camp counselors. Staff is carefully chosen to act as positive role models for our campers. They are fully trained in First Aid and CPR and enthusiastically deliver dynamic programs to all camps.

Campers will learn a variety of cultural, recreational and leadership skills as they build confidence and make new friends!

Day camp programs will be offered on-the-land in alignment with the Government of Ontario, Toronto Public Health and Ontario Camps Association safety provisions. A guide will be provided to families in their welcome package with further details.

We received an overwhelming response to our Summer Day Camps this year.  Due to COVID19 guidelines and restrictions, we are permitted to accommodate 20 Campers per site.

It is really important to us, that we provide as many Campers as possible a camp experience this summer.  A decision was made to split the summer day camp program in two sessions to accommodate those who registered. Each session will be approximately 3 weeks in length.

Located at two locations,

  1. SCARBOROUGH (St. Margaret’s Public School, 235 Galloway Road, Scarborough) and
  2. DOWNTOWN (Church Street Junior Public School: 83 Alexander St, Toronto,) location.

These day camps will have fun and exciting games and things to do this summer such as:

  • Hiking/Swimming
  • Arts and crafts
  • Dance and Drama
  • Storytelling
  • Guest speakers
  • Traditional ceremonies
  • Nature Excursions

We will be asking families to add their names to a list beginning June 15, 2021

Grundy Camp is located just south of Sudbury, on Grundy Provincial Park land.

Due to COVID19, we intend to offer Grundy Camp as a Family Camp this year.  By offering small, family-cohort camps, we can ensure camper safety and compliance to all Ministry/Public Health directives.  This year, we hope to offer six sessions.  Each session will be able to accommodate 3-4 families safely (to a maximum of 24 families).

All campers (adults and children) will be required to provide a negative COVID19 result between 3-5 days prior to camp.  Those who do not comply will not be permitted to board the bus.

Public Health regulations will be adhered to at all times while at camp (masks, sanitizing, cohorting, and social distancing).

We are asking that interested families add their name to the list (the link will open Tuesday, June 15 at 9:00 a.m.  The deadline to submit a name is 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 20).  Spots for camp will be on a first-come-first-served basis, based on pick-up location. Families who have been selected to attend will be contacted directly. Any applications received later than June 20 may be placed on a waitlist.
