A MESSAGE FROM ONE OF OUR ELDERS

Diane Longboat

What a great time to be alive! There has never been a time such as this in the history of humanity on Mother Earth. We have been so blessed to witness the beginning of the healing of Mother Earth, the balancing of human relationships, the blessing of the world now seeking Indigenous wisdom to solve some of the world’s toughest problems. This is the time for our people to shine in our wisdom and rich ceremonial life.

Tough years have passed since the Ancestors suffered unspeakable horrors of war, abuse, neglect and oppression. The time for grieving is over. The time for renewal is here. It is so evident in the children that are now being born in this generation. They are the ones we prayed for, fasted for….and hoped for. Our children have been born with all of the Gifts of the Ancestors to heal, to speak, to be leaders, to walk in the world to bring the change that everyone wants to see for peace and a more loving world. They are our new dreamers and visionaries, our prophets and leaders.

As mother and father you have been given the sacred gift of life. Let your love and care for these gifted ones be the focus of your life, the joy of every day. We are creating a new world with every child born to our people. The children need their language to be strong, their culture to form their identity and ceremonies to bring strength to their lives. Let us ensure that the children never have the life that we had to endure as parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and so on. Every generation must become stronger, more balanced in spiritual connection to the Creator, more loving and forgiving in heart, established in the Good Mind of knowing the Natural Laws of Mother Earth and the Spiritual Laws of the Creator, and finally more physically developed to endure years of service to one’s people as we rebuild.

Keep strong, keep prayer in your home, keep loving.
